Weather: As we navigate through the final days of April 2024, it’s crucial to remain vigilant about the dynamic weather patterns influencing different parts of India. Let’s delve into the forecast and warnings issued by meteorological authorities across the country:

Northeastern Regions: A cyclonic circulation situated over northeast Assam is set to trigger fairly widespread to widespread light to moderate rainfall and isolated thunderstorms over Arunachal Pradesh. Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura can anticipate scattered rainfall throughout April 25th to 29th, 2024. Additionally, isolated heavy rainfall is anticipated over Arunachal Pradesh on the 27th and 28th, with Assam and Meghalaya expecting heavy rainfall on the 28th.

Central and Northern Regions: The influence of a Western Disturbance, combined with cyclonic circulations over east Iran and northwest Uttar Pradesh, will lead to scattered to fairly widespread light to moderate rainfall and isolated thunderstorms over Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand from April 26th to 28th. Hailstorms are possible over some of these regions on the 26th.

Isolated heavy rainfall is likely over Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Muzaffarabad on the 27th and 28th. Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Rajasthan, and both East and West Uttar Pradesh can expect isolated rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds on various dates throughout this period. Hailstorms are also forecasted for Punjab and Haryana on the 26th and 27th, respectively.

Southern Regions: A cyclonic circulation over Madhya Maharashtra and another over Telangana will bring isolated light rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds to Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, Vidarbha, and Chhattisgarh from April 25th to 27th. Kerala and Mahe can expect isolated to scattered light to moderate rainfall on the 25th.

Temperature Trends: Yesterday, maximum temperatures soared to 42-44°C over many parts of Rayalaseema, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Odisha, and Gangetic West Bengal. They ranged from 40-42°C over Bihar, East Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, and parts of Karnataka, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, and Madhya Pradesh. Some regions experienced temperatures above normal by 3-5°C.

Over the next five days, heatwave to severe heatwave conditions are expected in coastal Odisha, Gangetic West Bengal, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, and interior Karnataka. Heatwave conditions may also prevail in isolated pockets over Bihar, Jharkhand, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Rayalaseema, Coastal and West Uttar Pradesh, and Konkan on various dates. Additionally, hot and humid weather is forecasted for Tripura, Kerala, Coastal Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Assam, Meghalaya, Konkan, Goa, and South Coastal Andhra Pradesh on different days throughout this period.
