Trough/Wind Discontinuity from North Coastal (AP) Andhra Pradesh to South Tamil Nadu: A trough extending from north Coastal Andhra Pradesh to south Tamil Nadu across Rayalaseema in the lower tropospheric levels will influence weather conditions in several regions. Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand, Odisha are expected to experience scattered to fairly widespread light to moderate rainfall, thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds initially, with a subsequent decrease in intensity. Similarly, other regions like East Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Vidarbha, Telangana, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal are likely to witness varying degrees of rainfall and thunderstorm activity from the 9th to the 14th of April, 2024.
Western Disturbance and Its Impacts: A fresh Western Disturbance, evident as a trough in middle tropospheric westerlies, is observed with its axis at 5.8 km above mean sea level along Long. 60°E to the north of Lat. 32°N. This disturbance is expected to cause isolated to scattered light rainfall/snowfall with thunderstorms and lightning over Jammu-Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand on the 10th and 11th of April. Furthermore, scattered to fairly widespread rainfall/snowfall is anticipated over the mentioned regions during the 13th to 15th of April, 2024. Additionally, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, and Haryana are likely to experience rainfall and thunderstorm activity from the 10th to the 15th of April, 2024.
