Weather: Heavy Rainfall Forecast for West & Central India

Weather: The deep depression over Saurashtra & Kachchh is currently moving westwards at 10 kmph. As of 0530 hours IST on 28th August 2024, it is centered near latitude 23.7°N and longitude 70.0°E, about 50 km north-northeast of Bhuj, Gujarat. It is expected to move slowly towards the Saurashtra & Kachchh coast and nearby areas of Pakistan and the northeast Arabian Sea by 29th August.

Weather: Low-Pressure Area Over Central India

The low-pressure area over northern central Madhya Pradesh and adjoining south Uttar Pradesh has become less marked as of today. Additionally, a new low-pressure area is likely to form over Eastcentral and North Bay of Bengal on 29th August, potentially moving towards the south Odisha and north Andhra Pradesh coasts.

Weather Trough and Rainfall Forecast

The monsoon trough is currently south of its normal position in the west and at its normal position in the east. Over the next week, widespread light to moderate rainfall is expected across West, Central, East, and Northeast India, with isolated heavy rainfall in specific regions. Extremely heavy rainfall is anticipated in areas like Saurashtra & Kutch on 28th and 29th August.

Weather: South Peninsular and Northwest India

South Peninsular India will experience scattered to fairly widespread light to moderate rainfall, with isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall in coastal and interior regions. Northwest India, including Jammu-Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand, will also see widespread light to moderate rainfall, with heavy rainfall in some areas.
