Weather Alert: Heavy Rainfall Expected Across Various Regions in India

The Weather trough is currently positioned north of its normal location at mean sea level. Additionally, an off-shore trough is extending from south Gujarat to north Kerala at mean sea level, indicating a significant shift in weather patterns. A cyclonic circulation over East Bihar and another over northeast Assam, along with a trough running from northeast Assam to northwest Bay of Bengal in the lower tropospheric levels, are contributing to the evolving weather system.

Weather: West and South Peninsular India Forecast

West and South Peninsular India can expect fairly widespread to widespread light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms and lightning over the next five days. Regions including Konkan & Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Kerala & Mahe, Lakshadweep, Karnataka, and Gujarat state are likely to experience these conditions. Heavy rainfall is anticipated at specific locations such as Konkan & Goa, the Ghat regions of Madhya Maharashtra, Karnataka, Gujarat Region, and Telangana. Isolated very heavy rainfall is also likely in areas like Konkan & Goa, Kerala, Coastal & South Interior Karnataka, and the Ghat regions of Madhya Maharashtra.

East & Northeast India Forecast

Over the next five days, East and Northeast India can expect a widespread distribution of light to moderate rainfall, often accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning. Heavy rainfall is expected at isolated locations in Assam & Meghalaya, Odisha, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim, Bihar, Arunachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, and the Andaman & Nicobar Islands. Additionally, Nagaland and Manipur are likely to experience isolated very heavy rainfall, with specific days highlighted for these events.

Northwest & Central India Forecast

Northwest and Central India are set to receive fairly widespread to widespread light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms and lightning over regions including Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, and Chhattisgarh. Scattered to fairly widespread rainfall is predicted for Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, East Rajasthan, Punjab, and Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi. Isolated heavy rainfall is very likely in Uttarakhand, East Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, West Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, East Rajasthan, and Vidarbha over the specified dates.
