The monsoon trough is active and currently positioned south of its normal location, with expectations to move northward within the next 24 hours. A shear zone is present in the lower and middle tropospheric levels along 21°N, sloping southwards with increasing altitude. Additionally, an off-shore trough is present at mean sea level along the South Gujarat-Kerala coasts. A Western Disturbance is observed as a trough in the middle tropospheric levels roughly along Long. 67° (Degree) E to the north of Lat. 30° (Degree) N.
Weather: West, Central, East, and South Peninsular India
The regions of West, Central, East, and South Peninsular India are expected to see fairly widespread to widespread light to moderate rainfall, accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning, over the next five days. Isolated extremely heavy rainfall is expected over Gujarat State, Konkan & Goa, and Madhya Maharashtra on the 23rd and 24th of July. Very heavy rainfall is predicted at isolated places over East Madhya Pradesh on the 23rd and 24th, Konkan & Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, and Gujarat State on the 25th and 26th, and West Madhya Pradesh and Odisha on the 23rd and 24th of July. Coastal and South Interior Karnataka are also expected to receive heavy rainfall from the 23rd to the 27th of July.

In Northwest India, scattered to fairly widespread light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning is very likely over Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, East Rajasthan, Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi, and Uttar Pradesh over the next five days. Isolated very heavy rainfall is expected in Uttarakhand on the 23rd, West Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, and Haryana on the 23rd, and East Rajasthan on the 23rd and 24th of July. Additionally, isolated heavy rainfall is likely over Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, West Uttar Pradesh, and East Rajasthan from the 23rd to the 27th of July.
Northeast India
Northeast India is expected to see fairly widespread to widespread light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning over the next five days. Isolated heavy rainfall is very likely over Assam and Meghalaya during this period, with Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, and Manipur also experiencing heavy rainfall on the 23rd and 24th of July.
