Weather: Rainfall, Thunderstorms, and Fog Forecasted Across India

As India braces for a diverse array of weather phenomena, meteorological forecasts indicate a series of impactful events over the coming days.

In central parts of Chhattisgarh, a cyclonic circulation paired with a trough extending from North interior Karnataka is expected to usher in isolated to scattered light to moderate rainfall. This weather system, extending its influence over Vidarbha, north Chhattisgarh, Gangetic West Bengal & Sikkim, and Jharkhand, might also bring thunderstorms and lightning activity. Notably, there’s a possibility of isolated hailstorms over certain areas on February 15th, 2024.

Simultaneously, a cyclonic circulation over North Bangladesh coupled with a trough in westerlies is likely to trigger isolated to scattered rainfall over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam & Meghalaya, and Nagaland on the same day. Thunderstorms, lightning, and hailstorm activity could accompany these showers.

Looking ahead, a fresh active Western Disturbance is anticipated to impact northwest India starting from February 17th. This disturbance is expected to bring widespread light to moderate rainfall/snowfall across the Western Himalayan Region from February 18th to 20th, with isolated instances of heavy rainfall/snowfall. Additionally, scattered to fairly widespread rainfall, thunderstorms, lightning, and hail with gusty winds are forecasted over Punjab, Haryana-Chandigarh, West Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan on subsequent days.

Meanwhile, dense fog conditions are projected to prevail in isolated pockets of Bihar and Odisha on February 16th and 17th, spreading to East Uttar Pradesh and Jharkhand on February 16th, 2024. These foggy conditions could potentially impact travel and visibility in affected regions.

As these weather systems unfold, residents and travelers must stay informed and take necessary precautions to ensure safety and mitigate any potential risks associated with these meteorological events.
