Weather: Heavy Showers Expected in Northwest and Central India

Weather: India is currently experiencing various weather systems that are influencing the monsoon activity and rainfall distribution across the country. A cyclonic circulation is present over central Pakistan and the neighborhood, and another over Gangetic West Bengal and adjoining Bangladesh, both extending up to mid-tropospheric levels. An east-west trough runs from central parts of Rajasthan to East Bihar across Uttar Pradesh in the lower tropospheric level. The monsoon trough at mean sea level is active and lies south of its normal position, while a feeble off-shore trough at mean sea level runs along South Gujarat to north Kerala coasts.

Weather: Northwest India

Fairly widespread to widespread light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning is very likely over Jammu-Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Rajasthan, with scattered to fairly widespread rainfall over Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, and Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi during the week. Isolated very heavy rainfall is also expected over Himachal Pradesh on August 7th and 10th, West Uttar Pradesh on August 7th, and Uttarakhand on August 7th and 9th-10th. Additionally, isolated heavy rainfall is very likely over Jammu-Kashmir, Punjab, Haryana-Chandigarh on August 7th and 10th, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, East Uttar Pradesh, and East Rajasthan during August 7th-12th, West Rajasthan on August 10th-12th, and West Uttar Pradesh on August 7th, 8th, and 11th-12th.

West & Central India

Fairly widespread to widespread light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning is very likely over Konkan & Goa, Gujarat Region during the week, with scattered to fairly widespread rainfall over Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, and Saurashtra & Kutch during the week. Very heavy rainfall is very likely at isolated places over East Madhya Pradesh on August 7th. Heavy rainfall is also expected at isolated places over West Madhya Pradesh on August 7th-8th, East Madhya Pradesh on August 7th-8th, Chhattisgarh on August 7th, Konkan & Goa during August 7th-11th, Madhya Maharashtra during August 7th-12th, and Gujarat Region on August 8th-9th.

Weather: East & Northeast India

Fairly widespread to widespread light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning is very likely over East & Northeast India during the week. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected at isolated places over Assam & Meghalaya during August 7th-12th, and over Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura during August 7th-10th. Isolated heavy rainfall is very likely over Bihar from August 7th-11th, Odisha on August 7th-8th, Jharkhand on August 7th and 11th, and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim from August 7th-10th.

Weather: South Peninsular India

Scattered to fairly widespread light to moderate rainfall is expected over Kerala & Mahe, Lakshadweep, and Karnataka, and isolated to scattered rainfall over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal, Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam, Telangana, and Rayalaseema during the next five days. Heavy rainfall is very likely at isolated places over Tamil Nadu, Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam, and Telangana on August 7th.
