As we look ahead to the weather forecast for the next five days, various weather systems are set to influence different parts of India. From Western disturbances to cyclonic circulations, here’s what you can expect:
Western Disturbances (22nd – 27th February)
A trough in lower tropospheric westerlies is expected to run along Long. 77°E to the north of Lat. 30°N. This will bring about the following conditions:
- Western Himalayan Region: Isolated to scattered light to moderate rainfall/snowfall is very likely on 22nd February. A fresh Western Disturbance will affect the region from the 24th of February night, leading to similar conditions till the 27th of February.
- East Uttar Pradesh and North Madhya Pradesh: On February 22nd, anticipate a high probability of isolated to scattered light to moderate rainfall, accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning.
Cyclonic Circulation (22nd – 25th February)
A cyclonic circulation is present over northeastern Assam and surrounding areas in the lower levels of the troposphere, along with a significant influx of moisture originating from the Bay of Bengal.
- Arunachal Pradesh: Fairly widespread to widespread light/moderate rainfall/snowfall with isolated thunderstorms & lightning is expected on 22nd & 23rd February. Isolated heavy rainfall/snowfall is also likely on these days.
- Assam & Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura: Fairly widespread to widespread light/moderate rainfall with isolated thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds are very likely on 22nd & 23rd February.
- Bihar, Jharkhand: Isolated to scattered light/moderate rainfall with thunderstorms, lightning is expected on 22nd February.
- West Bengal & Sikkim: Gusty winds (speed reaching 30-40 kmph gusting to 50 kmph) are likely on 22nd & 23rd February. Hailstorm activity is also expected at isolated places on 22nd February.
Hot and Humid Weather (22nd February)
Hot and humid weather conditions are forecasted to prevail over coastal Odisha, Rayalaseema, and Kerala on 22nd February.
