Low Pressure Area Over West Equatorial Indian Ocean:
A Low-Pressure Area has developed over the West Equatorial Indian Ocean, extending into the Southeast Arabian Sea. Projections indicate a west-northwestward movement, evolving into a Well Marked Low Pressure Area over the central parts of the south Arabian Sea and adjoining West Equatorial Indian Ocean in the next 24 hours.
Western Disturbance and Cyclonic Circulation:
Simultaneously, a Western Disturbance manifests as a cyclonic circulation over north Haryana and its neighboring areas, positioned between 1.5 and 3.1 km above mean sea level.
Dense Fog and Cold Day Warnings:
The upcoming days bring warnings of dense to very dense fog conditions in multiple regions. Punjab is expected to experience these conditions during the night and morning hours on the 1st and 2nd of January 2024, with a likelihood of persisting in some parts for the subsequent three days. Similar conditions are forecasted for Haryana, Chandigarh, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Uttarakhand during the mentioned period.
Temperature Conditions:
Certain areas in Punjab are anticipated to witness Cold Day to Severe Cold Day conditions on January 1st, 2024. Additionally, isolated pockets in Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Madhya Pradesh may experience Cold Day conditions from January 2nd to 5th, 2024.
Rainfall Forecast: I
In the realm of rainfall, a fresh easterly wave combined with the Low Pressure Area over the West Equatorial Indian Ocean and adjoining Southeast Arabian Sea is expected to bring light to moderate rainfall to south Tamil Nadu, south Kerala, and Lakshadweep until January 4th, 2024. Isolated heavy rainfall is projected over Lakshadweep on January 2nd, 2024. Furthermore, light isolated rainfall is likely over Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh from January 2nd to 4th, 2024.
Temperature Stability:
While various weather systems are at play, no significant changes in minimum temperatures are foreseen over most parts of north India in the next five days.
