Weather Update: Cyclonic Circulations and Rainfall Forecast Across India

Rainfall Forecast: The low-pressure area over central parts of north Madhya Pradesh and its neighboring regions has become less marked. However, the associated cyclonic circulation persists over northwest Madhya Pradesh, extending up to the middle tropospheric levels. This system influences weather conditions across various regions, particularly Central India. The monsoon trough is presently aligned close to its normal position at mean sea level, indicating stable monsoonal activity across the country.

Rainfall Forecast for Central India

Central India is expected to witness scattered to fairly widespread light to moderate rainfall over Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, and Chhattisgarh throughout the week. The forecast highlights isolated heavy rainfall in West Madhya Pradesh on the 24th and 25th of September, while East Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh may experience similar conditions between the 22nd and 25th of September. These showers are expected to bring much-needed moisture to the region while also raising the potential for localized flooding in some areas.

Weather Conditions in Northwest and East India: Rainfall Forecast

In Northwest India, isolated to scattered light rainfall is anticipated over the region during the week. Uttarakhand is likely to see isolated heavy rainfall on the 24th and 25th of September, which may lead to flash floods and landslides in susceptible areas.

In East and Northeast India, fairly widespread to widespread light to moderate rainfall is expected, particularly over the Andaman & Nicobar Islands. Scattered rainfall is forecasted for Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura during the week. Isolated heavy rainfall is likely in Odisha on the 22nd and 23rd of September, and in Assam and Meghalaya on the 21st and 22nd, as well as over the northeastern states from the 21st to the 25th of September.

Forecast for Western and Southern India: Rainfall Forecast

Western and southern parts of India will also experience varied weather patterns. Fairly widespread to widespread light to moderate rainfall is forecasted for Konkan & Goa, while isolated showers are expected over other regions in the week ahead. Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal, in particular, will experience hot and humid conditions on the 19th of September, adding to the already warm climate of these regions. This weather pattern may contribute to discomfort, and citizens are advised to take precautions against heat-related issues.

Overall, the weather systems across India are expected to result in significant rainfall in some regions, while others may experience hot and humid conditions. Residents in affected areas need to stay informed of warnings and prepare accordingly.
