Weather Warnings for Mariners: Cyclonic Circulation in the Bay of Bengal

Weather forecast for the next five days, the majority of the country can breathe a sigh of relief, as there are no significant weather disturbances anticipated. However, there are exceptions, as certain regions face specific weather warnings due to low-pressure areas and cyclonic circulations. These warnings are particularly crucial for the safety of fishermen operating in those areas.

Low-Pressure Area over Southeast and Adjoining East Central Arabian Sea:

Fishermen planning to venture into the Arabian Sea need to pay close attention to the following dates and regions:

  1. Southeast Arabian Sea on 20th October: Fishing activities in this area are not recommended on this particular day.
  2. Southwest Arabian Sea from 20th to 23rd October: It’s advised that fishermen avoid this region for the duration mentioned.
  3. Westcentral Arabian Sea from 20th to 23rd October: Similarly, this area should be avoided from the 20th to the 23rd of October.

Fishermen who are currently at sea are strongly advised to return to the coast for their own safety during these specific periods.

Cyclonic Circulation over Southeast Bay of Bengal:

The weather warnings extend to the Bay of Bengal region as well, where a cyclonic circulation is expected to impact the seas. Fishermen are cautioned not to venture into the following areas:

  1. Southwest and adjoining southeast Bay of Bengal from 20th to 23rd October: Fishing activities in this zone should be postponed during this time frame.
  2. Westcentral Bay of Bengal from 21st October onwards: Starting from the 21st of October, it’s advisable for fishermen to steer clear of the Westcentral Bay of Bengal.

These warnings are vital for the safety of fishermen, as weather conditions in these areas could be hazardous during the specified time frames.

While most of the country is expected to experience stable weather conditions over the next five days, it’s essential to stay updated on weather alerts, especially if you plan to head out to sea. The safety of fishermen is of paramount importance, and heeding these weather warnings can help ensure their well-being in the face of potentially adverse weather conditions. Stay informed and stay safe!
