Weather Systems Overview
A low-pressure area currently lies over northern Bangladesh, and it is predicted to move westwards across West Bengal within the next 48 hours. This system, combined with other atmospheric disturbances, is likely to bring widespread rainfall across many parts of India.
Northwest India
Northwest India is expected to witness fairly widespread to widespread light to moderate rainfall. Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttar Pradesh are likely to receive isolated heavy rainfall. The region may experience isolated very heavy rainfall over Uttarakhand and parts of Rajasthan during the week.
Central and West India
Central and West India will see fairly widespread rainfall, with isolated heavy showers over Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Gujarat. Konkan & Goa may experience isolated very heavy rainfall from August 24-26, with a similar forecast for Madhya Maharashtra.
South and Northeast India
In the southern peninsula, Kerala, Karnataka, and Lakshadweep will experience widespread rainfall, with isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall over Kerala on August 21. Northeast India, including Assam, Meghalaya, and Tripura, is likely to experience very heavy rainfall over the coming days.
