The only place where it is found is  Antarctic continent.

It is the most widespread penguin species, and is most southerly distributed of all penguins.

French explorer Jules Dumont d'Urville collected first Adélie penguin specimens on Antarctica in 1830s and early 1840s.

Measuring 70-73 cm in length and weighing 3.8 to 8.2 kg, the Adélie penguin is a mid-sized bird.

Females have shorter wings and beaks and weigh significantly less.

The adult has a black head, throat, and upper body, with a snowy white underbody.

The wing has a black & pinkish legs and feet that are mostly unfeathered.

One of only four penguin species to nest on the continent itself, the Adélie penguin is a truly Antarctic creature.

They need bare, rocky ground on which to build their nests during the breeding season.

During the chick-rearing season, the Adélie penguin is known to feed mainly on Antarctic krill, ice krill, sea krill.

Shores around the Antarctic continent are where Adélie penguins breed from Oct to Feb.
