Alaskan Malamutes are among the most ancient breeds of dogs. They likely crossed the Bering Strait from Siberia to North America and the region of Alaska thousands of years ago.

One of the oldest Arctic sled dogs, the Alaskan Malamute, is a powerful and substantially built dog with a deep chest and strong, well-muscled body.

The Malamute has a proud carriage, with its head held erect and its eyes showing interest and curiosity.

The Alaskan Malamute is a friendly dog that loves people, not a "one man" dog.

Compatibility with other pets: Malamutes typically do well with other dogs in the home as pack dogs.

A pet Malamute can go six to eight weeks between baths, but Malamutes are often bathed weekly. If the coat feels dry, conditioner can be used in moderation..

It is best for a Malamute to be placed with previous owners of similarly large and stubborn breeds that will know how to handle their temperament and maintain their well-being.
