US President Joe Biden is scheduled to meet with Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida on May 18 in Hiroshima.
The meeting will take place ahead of the Group of Seven (G7) summit to be held in Hiroshima.
Biden's visit to Hiroshima will make him the second sitting US president to visit the city, which was devastated by a US atomic bomb during World War II.
The discussions between Biden and Kishida will focus on their response to China's growing assertiveness in the Indo-Pacific region and Russia's war in Ukraine.
President Obama's visit to Hiroshima in May 2016 was the first by a sitting US President and had significant historical significance.
The last meeting between Biden and Kishida took place in January in Washington.
