The Bombay High Court has dismissed the bail plea of bookie Anil Jaisinghani seeking relief against an "illegal" arrest related to an alleged extortion bid on Amruta Fadnavis.
Aniksha, a designer, allegedly tried to give money to Amruta Fadnavis to settle innumerable cases against Jaisinghani and later tried to blackmail her using video clips and voice notes.
Anil Jaisinghani was picked up from Gujarat and brought to Mumbai after Aniksha's arrest. Later, he was formally shown as arrested.
The lower court had sent Jaisinghani to police custody, and he had alleged that he was illegally arrested and remanded to police custody.
The Bombay High Court dismissed Jaisinghani's bail plea as it was without any merit.
The trial court also rejected Jaisinghani's bail plea, and his legal team is in the process of filing an appeal.
Jaisinghani was remanded to the custody of the Madhya Pradesh Police in an old excise evasion case that was registered there.
