The Union government has increased the special casual leave for organ donation from 30 days to 42 days.
The decision was made to encourage organ donation and to allow donors adequate time for recovery after the major surgery.
The duration of special casual leave will be a maximum of 42 days for all types of donors, irrespective of the type of surgery for the removal of the donor's organ.
The leave can be availed starting one week before the surgery on the recommendation of a government-registered medical practitioner/doctor.
This move will help save lives and encourage more people to donate organs for a noble cause.
