Former Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi, Manish Sisodia, arrested on charges of sedition
Manish Sisodia, the Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi, was produced in court on March 6, 2023.
He was arrested on charges of sedition, criminal conspiracy, and promoting enmity between different groups.
The arrest was related to a speech he made in 2022 during a farmers' protest in Delhi.
Sisodia has denied the charges and called them politically motivated.
His supporters gathered outside the court to protest his arrest.
The Delhi government has condemned the arrest and called it an attack on democracy.
Sisodia has been sent to judicial custody for 14 days.
This is not the first time that a member of the Aam Aadmi Party, to which Sisodia belongs, has been arrested on charges of sedition in recent years.
