The court has rejected an order to reveal Prime Minister Narendra Modi's education details, stating that the information is not needed and has no bearing on his role.

Gujarat High Court's Decision:

The court has fined Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal ₹ 25,000 for asking for these details and has directed him to deposit the money with the Gujarat State Legal Services Authority within four weeks.

Fine on Arvind Kejriwal:

Arvind Kejriwal has expressed his disappointment with the decision and the fine, stating that the country has the right to know how educated its Prime Minister is.

Kejriwal's Reaction:

In 2016, the Central Information Commission directed the Prime Minister's Office, the Gujarat University, and Delhi University to furnish information on PM Modi's graduation and post-graduation degrees in response to a Right to Information (RTI) request.

RTI Request:

According to PM Modi's election documents, he graduated from Gujarat University in 1978 and completed his Master's degree at Delhi University in 1983.

PM Modi's Educational Qualifications:

Solicitor General Tushar Mehta had argued during the hearings that the university should not be compelled to disclose this information, stating that it has no bearing on the Prime Minister's role and that there is no public interest involved.

Government Lawyer's Argument:

Arvind Kejriwal's lawyer had pointed out that election nomination forms listed educational qualifications, and they were only asking for a degree certificate, not his mark sheet.
