The Talpagiri Ranganathaswamy temple, also called the Ranganayaka Swamy Temple, is one of the oldest temples in Nellore.

The Sri Ranganatha swamy Temple was founded in the 7th century by the kings of Pallava.

The temple is situated on the banks of the river Penna.

Gaaligopuram, a huge tower that literally means "wind tower", is just before the primary door to the temple.

This tower, called a kalasham, is approximately 70 feet tall and is surrounded by a 10-foot moat of gold-plated ships.

A grand festival is held each year during the month of March – April. This is known as Brahmotsavam.

On the walls of the sanctum sanctorum, Sri Vishnu Sahasranamavali, or the 1,000 distinct names of Lord Vishnu, is displayed.

The devotees are chanting Sri Vishnu Sahasranamavali while they are doing the temple parikrama.

Anantha's reclining posture is that of Lord Ranganathaswamy's idol.

According to legend, Lord Vishnu and his wife, Goddess Sridevi, chose to visit Bhoo-Loka.
