IAF Launches 'Clean Skies' Campaign: A Swachhta Drive Inspired by Gandhi

The Indian Air Force (IAF) initiated a Special Campaign for Swachhta, involving all air warriors and civilians, as part of the 'Ek Tareekh Ek Ghanta' drive.

Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari and senior officers of Air Headquarters, New Delhi, led the cleaning efforts along Motilal Nehru Marg and NDMC parking area to kick off the campaign.

Similar cleanliness drives are happening at 750 sites across Air Force Stations in India, with participating volunteers to be honored after taking the Swachata Pledge on October 2, 2023.

The campaign draws inspiration from Mahatma Gandhi's belief that "Cleanliness is the foundation upon which all other virtues are built," focusing on improving cleanliness, proper waste disposal, and promoting the use of recycled products.

The IAF aims to enhance cleanliness, hygiene, and efficiency by encouraging the disposal of old files, adopting digital initiatives like e-office, IMMOLS, and e-MMS, and codifying and sharing best practices for an ongoing process.
