Karnataka Cliffhanger: DK Shivakumar Cancels Delhi Trip, Adds Fresh Twist to Chief Minister Race

16-05-2023

DK Shivakumar, the state party chief in Karnataka, cancels his scheduled trip to Delhi, where he was expected to meet with party leaders and discuss the Chief Minister's post.

Citing ill health, Shivakumar expresses disappointment over the lack of courtesy and gratitude from the party's Central leadership, emphasizing his role in securing victory for the party.

He denies any intention of rebellion or blackmail, asserting his own presence of mind and determination not to fall into traps.

Responding to rival contender Mr. Siddaramaiah's claim of having the support of MLAs, Shivakumar wishes him well and maintains confidence in his own position.

Mr. Siddaramaiah, already present in Delhi, was set to meet with party chief Mallikarjun Kharge and other leaders, but the meeting did not take place, according to senior party leader Randeep Surjewala.

The Congress party deployed representatives to gauge the mood among MLAs, who submitted their report, leading to the summoning of both Shivakumar and Siddaramaiah to Delhi.
