Shivraj Singh Chouhan, the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh and BJP leader criticized Congress over its president's 'poisonous snake' remark on PM Modi.

Chouhan compared PM Modi to Lord Shiva, who is also called Neelkanth, and said that he is drinking poison for the people and the country.

Neelkanth is a name given to Lord Shiva as he consumed poison originating from the ocean and placed it in his throat, according to Hindu mythology.

Chouhan accused Congress of spreading poison about PM Modi and said that the party has become 'Vishkumbh'.

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge stoked controversy when he called PM Modi a poisonous snake.

Chouhan's remarks come in support of PM Modi and aim to defend him against Congress' criticism.
