Oracle Reportedly Lays off 3,000 Employees at Cerner After $28.4 Billion Acquisition

19-05-2023

Oracle, after acquiring Cerner, has allegedly laid off more than 3,000 employees. The layoffs affected various departments, including marketing, engineering, accounting, legal, and product.

Oracle has paused raises and promotions for employees in the acquired unit, and there are no expectations of such benefits until 2023.

Oracle's acquisition of Cerner brought in approximately 28,000 employees, making the layoffs a significant downsizing move.

The layoff spree is not limited to Oracle, as major companies worldwide have been implementing similar measures. Amazon India, for instance, recently announced fresh layoffs impacting employees in specific verticals.

This downsizing aligns with the earlier announcement made by Amazon CEO Andy Jassy in March, which stated that 9,000 employees would be impacted.
