President Inaugurates 37th Surajkund Crafts Mela, Celebrates Cultural Diversity and Artistic Heritage

 

The President of India, Smt Droupadi Murmu, inaugurated the 37th Surajkund International Crafts Mela, emphasizing that it is a celebration of India's rich cultural diversity. She highlighted the event's role in honoring both tradition and innovation.

President Murmu highlighted the Mela's significance as an effective platform for connecting craftsmen with art lovers. The event serves as both an art exhibition and a business center, fostering a bridge between the creative talents of artisans and the appreciation of their work by enthusiasts.

The President underscored that art and craft transcend borders, acting as bridges of understanding. Artists and craftspeople, according to her, serve as creative ambassadors of humanity. 

She particularly commended Gujarat, the partner state, for its rich art tradition and recognized the North-Eastern Handicrafts and Handlooms Development Corporation as the cultural partner at this year's Mela.
