President Murmu's Vision for Accessible Justice and the Symbolic Role of Jabalpur in Indian Judiciary

 

Foundation Stone Laying: The President, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, laid the foundation stone for the new building of the High Court of Madhya Pradesh in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh on September 27, 2023.

Call for Accessible Justice: The President urged everyone associated with the judiciary to work towards providing simple, accessible, and speedy justice to the general public.

Pending Cases: She noted that there are approximately 4.5 crore pending cases in lower courts across India, with many of them pending for 20 to 30 years. She praised the Madhya Pradesh High Court's initiative, "25 DEBT," to dispose of cases pending for decades in district courts.

Technology in Judiciary: The President acknowledged the increasing role of technology in the judiciary, including e-courts, video conferencing, and e-filing, which has made justice administration more accessible and reduced paper usage.
