Rekha is an Indian film actress who has worked in Hindi films since the 1970s. She was born on October 10, 1954, in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India, and her birth name is Bhanurekha Ganesan.
Rekha started her film career as a child artist in the Telugu film ''Inti Guttu'' (1958).
She made her Hindi film debut in the film ''Sawan Bhadon'' (1970) but gained recognition with the film ''Anjana Safar'' (1979).
She has acted in more than 180 films in a career spanning over five decades and has won several awards including the National Film Award for Best Actress for her role in the film Umrao Jaan (1981).
Rekha is known for her versatility and has portrayed a wide range of characters in her films, from glamorous to serious and intense roles.
