Nitin Gadkari announces a major project to quadruple sections of National Highway 161, totaling 133.85 kilometers and costing Rs 3,694.51 crore, to drive development in Vidarbha and Marathwada.

Washim district has witnessed significant highway construction over the past nine years, totaling 227 kilometers, catalyzing development and economic growth in the region.

Gadkari emphasizes the pivotal role of road construction in achieving state and national development goals, particularly highlighting the importance of highways like NH 161 in strengthening trade relations between Maharashtra and Telangana.

The expansion project includes three packages with notable features such as flyovers, underpasses, bus shelters, a 6-lane Railway Overbridge (ROB), and city bypasses, all aimed at improving connectivity and transportation efficiency in the region.
