Siddaramaiah to contest Karnataka assembly polls from Kolar constituency; Congress keeps decision pending

Former Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah has expressed his desire to contest the upcoming Karnataka assembly polls from the Kolar constituency.

The Congress party is yet to make a final decision on Siddaramaiah's request to contest from Kolar.

Siddaramaiah had earlier contested and won from the Varuna constituency in the 2018 Karnataka assembly polls.

The Congress party had earlier announced that it would field new candidates in at least 80% of the assembly constituencies in the upcoming polls.

The Kolar constituency is currently represented by the BJP's S. Muniswamy, who won the seat in the 2018 assembly polls.

The Congress is hoping to regain power in Karnataka in the upcoming assembly polls, which are scheduled to be held in 2023.

Siddaramaiah is a senior leader of the Congress party in Karnataka and has previously served as the state's Chief Minister twice.
