Poonam Dhillon is an Indian actress, who primarily worked in Hindi films during the 80s & early 90s. She was born on April 18, 1962, in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, India.

Her father Amreek Singh was an aeronautical engineer in the Indian Air Force. Her mother was a school principal and both her siblings are doctors.

She began her career as a model and went on to make her debut in the film industry with the film ''Trishul'' in 1978.

She gained immense popularity with her roles in films like ''Noorie'', ''Teri Meherbaniyan'', & ''Sohni Mahiwal''. She has also acted in Punjabi & Tamil films & TV shows.

Poonam Dhillon was married to film director Ashok Thakeria, with whom she has two children, Anmol and Paloma.

She joined the Bhartiya Janta Party in 2004 and was appointed Vice President of the Mumbai unit of the party in 2019.

Dhillon was a contestant on Season 3 of Bigg Boss aired on Colors TV in 2009. She ended up as the second runner-up on the show.
