04-04-2023
The contract sustains around 140 UK jobs and delivers on the Prime Minister’s priority to grow the economy and create better-paid jobs.
The agreement was signed by the US Joint Program Office, Lockheed Martin, and BAE Systems.
The arrangement increases the number of flying hours available for the F-35 fleet and provides important mission planning, training, and maintenance capabilities.
The Lightning Air System National Capability Enterprise (LANCE) contract will provide technical support and training services for the UK’s F-35 fleet.
The F-35 Lightning is a multi-role, stealth aircraft containing cutting-edge technologies flown by both the Royal Navy and the RAF.
The contract includes services such as pilot and groundcrew training, ejection seat and canopy maintenance, and component spray facilities.
The new contract marks a significant milestone in the maturity of the UK’s F-35 National Support Solution and demonstrates confidence in the industry's ability to support the UK's critical F-35 Freedom of Action capability.
