UK's National Living Wage to Increase by 9.7% on April 1st.

31-03-2023

The National Living Wage (NLW) will increase by 9.7% to £10.42 from 1st April, benefiting workers aged 23 and over across the UK.

21-22-year-olds will receive a pay rise of 10.9% to £10.18 per hour, while younger workers and apprentices will also see their pay increase by 9.7%.

In autumn, the Government was recommended by the LPC to increase the NLW.

The increment of the NLW is a noteworthy measure in attaining the administration's 2024 goal of reaching two-thirds of the median earnings.

From 23rd March to 9th June 2023, LPC is conducting a consultation regarding the National Minimum Wage rates for April 2024 and the following years.

Even though economic conditions are turbulent, unemployment remains low and the NLW increase is not expected to have a harmful effect.
