Vice Admiral Tarun Sobti Assumes Charge as Deputy Chief of the Naval Staff

 

Vice Admiral Tarun Sobti assumed the position of Deputy Chief of the Naval Staff on October 1, 2023, marking a significant milestone in his career within the Indian Navy.

He joined the Indian Navy on July 1, 1988, and has specialized in Navigation and Direction during his tenure.

Over his 35-year career, Vice Admiral Sobti has held a wide range of Command and Staff appointments, both onshore and at sea, showcasing his versatility.

Notable commands include leading INS Nishank (Missile Boat), INS Kora (Missile Corvette), and the Guided Missile Destroyer INS Kolkata.

He succeeds Vice Admiral Sanjay Mahindru, who retired after an illustrious 38-year career. During Vice Admiral Mahindru's tenure as Deputy Chief of Naval Staff.

Vice Admiral Sobti has been recognized for his outstanding service, receiving the Vishisht Seva Medal in 2020 and the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal in 2022, both presented by the Hon’ble President of India.
