Evan Gershkovich, a reporter for The Wall Street Journal, has been arrested in Russia on spying charges.
Russia's Federal Security Service (FSB) said a criminal case has been filed against Gershkovich for collecting "secret information" about a Russian defense company.
Gershkovich was arrested while on assignment in Yekaterinburg.
A veteran journalist in the city said two of his sources have confirmed Gershkovich's detention.
The Wall Street Journal has not issued any statements with regard to Gershkovich's arrest.
