Safeguarding means protecting people from harm. It’s about creating a safe environment in which people can live and work without fear of abuse, violence, or exploitation.
Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility. If you see something that seems suspicious, say something.. Don’t ignore it or think someone else will deal with it.
If you’re worried about someone, don’t keep it to yourself – tell someone you trust. There are also lots of organisations that can help, like the police, social services or charities.
Safeguarding is important because everyone deserves to live in a safe and healthy environment. We all have a right to be protected from harm. The six Ps of safeguarding are important components that help keep children and young people safe from harm. They are:
Protection: This includes measures to protect children and young people from abuse, exploitation and neglect.
Prevention: This includes strategies to prevent children and young people from being harmed, and to promote their wellbeing.
Partnership: This involves working together with other agencies and individuals to safeguard children and young people.
Participation: This means involving children and young people in decisions that affect them, and giving them a voice.
Provision: This includes ensuring that services and support are available to children and young people who need them.
Prosecution: This is about taking action against those who harm or abuse children and young people.
The six Ps of safeguarding are important for everyone to be aware of, in order to keep children and young people safe from harm.
