Yoga Mahotsav Celebrates 75-Day Countdown to International Day of Yoga in Pune

The ‘Yoga Mahotsav,’ held at the Wadia College Sports Ground in Pune, Maharashtra, marked the 75-day countdown to the International Day of Yoga with an extraordinary turnout. Organized jointly by the Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga and the National Institute of Naturopathy, Ministry of Ayush, Government of India, the event saw thousands of participants actively engaging in the practice of the Common Yoga Protocol (CYP).

The overwhelming enthusiasm displayed by the participants underscores the growing significance of Yoga in fostering personal and societal well-being.

Esteemed guests, including Shri Satyajit Paul, Deputy Director-General, Ministry of Ayush; Shri Vishwas Mandalik, President, Yoga Vidya Gurukul, Nashik; Smt. Vijayalakshmi Bharadwaj, Director, Ministry of Ayush; Dr. Satya Lakshmi, Director, National Institute of Naturopathy, Pune; and Vaidya Dr. Kashinath Samagandi, Director of MDNIY, graced the occasion. Their presence added considerable value to the event, highlighting the collective commitment to promoting Yoga and advancing the betterment of individuals and communities.

The event was also honored by the presence of senior officials from the Ministry of Ayush, the state government, and other eminent dignitaries and experts. Additionally, messages from revered Yoga masters and gurus further enriched the occasion.

Addressing the gathering, Shri Satyajit Paul emphasized the significance of Yoga as a global movement towards a healthier and better tomorrow. He commended Pune for hosting the ‘Yoga Mahotsav’ and appreciated the massive turnout.

Shri Vishwas Mandalik highlighted Yoga as a precious gift from India’s rich heritage, benefiting the world by promoting health and wellness. He emphasized Yoga as a spiritual discipline aimed at harmonizing mind and body.

The event showcased the importance of the Common Yoga Protocol (CYP), with a live demonstration performed by experts from the Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga. Over 5000 Yoga practitioners participated in the demonstration, which was streamed through various social media platforms of the Ministry of Ayush, MDNIY, and other Yoga institutions.

The Indian Yoga Association’s Maharashtra State Chapter also extended support to the celebration of the 75th day of IDY-2024.
