CM Yogi Announces Rs 25 Lakh Aid for Families of MahaKumbh Stampede Victims

MahaKumbh 2025 Stampede: On Wednesday, a devastating stampede occurred at the Triveni Sangam during the MahaKumbh’s Mauni Amavasya ‘Amrit Snan’, claiming the lives of at least 30 devotees and injuring 60 others. The incident occurred when a large crowd of devotees, gathered for the sacred dip, broke barricades on Akhara Marg, triggering the stampede.

CM Yogi Adityanath Expresses Grief, Announces Financial Assistance

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed deep sorrow over the incident and offered his condolences to the grieving families. He announced financial assistance of Rs 25 lakh each for the families of the deceased. CM Adityanath also reassured the public that security forces, including the Mela Authority, police, NDRF, and SDRF, were on the ground.

Yogi Orders Judicial Probe into MahaKumbh 2025 Stampede

In response to the tragedy, CM Yogi Adityanath ordered a judicial probe into the incident. The investigation will be conducted by a commission that will submit its findings to the state government within a set timeframe.

The Chief Secretary and Director General of Police (DGP) have been tasked with visiting Prayagraj to assess the situation on the ground.

Ongoing Relief Efforts and Medical Assistance

A green corridor was created to ensure the swift transfer of injured individuals to hospitals. 36 injured people are currently receiving treatment in Prayagraj. The stampede occurred during the peak ‘snan’ of the MahaKumbh, causing severe congestion in the city, but efforts to ease the situation have been ongoing.
