Gorakhpur: On the 16th of January Yogi said On the auspicious occasion of Makar Sankranti (Khichdi), greetings to all the devotees who GorakhnathMndr and offer Khichdi. Yogi said, “Thanks to all the people and the local administration who helped in successfully completing this festival which is a symbol of social harmony”.

Know About Gorakhnath Temple:-

Also known as the Gorakhnath Temple, the Gorakhnath Mandir is a temple of the Nath monastic order group of the Nath tradition. The name Gorakhnath is derived from the medieval saint, Gorakshanath, who was a yogi who traveled widely across India and authored a number of texts that form a part of the canon of Nath Sampradaya.

Matsyendranath is the founder of the Nath tradition. This math is situated on large premises in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, India. The temple serves as the cultural hub of the city and performs various cultural and social activities.

The city of Gorakhpur was named after Gorakhnath, a saint of the ‘Nath Sampradaya’. In honor of him, a shrine called Gorakhnath Mandir was built at the location where he did his Sādhanā.

The Gorakhpur region is made up of the districts of Maharajganj, Kushinagar, Deoria, Azamgarh, Mau, Ballia, and parts of Nepal Terai. The Hindu Vedic culture was an important center in these areas, which may be called the Gorakhpur Janapad.

The kingdom of Kosala was one of the sixteen Mahajanapadas in the 6th century BCE and Gorakhpur was a part of it. Lord Rama was a part of the solar dynasty of Kshatriyas, who were believed to have ruled the area. Gorakhpur was a part of the empires of the Maurya, Shunga, Kushan, Gupta, and Harsha dynasties.
